Kidz R Us need your help!

Kidz R Us, a St Ives based award winning youth theatre group are in the running for a £78,000 grant from the People's Millions programme which is part of the Big Lottery Fund. You will be able to see a feature on Kidz R Us on your ITV West Country regional evening news programme on Wednesday 28th November. They are down to the last 8 organisations in the south- west, of whom 5 will receive the money they have asked for - the decision as to which 5 are chosen is down to a public vote so they need your help to secure the money.

On WEDNESDAY 28th NOVEMBER they will be given the phone number first thing in the morning and they will have until midnight to register as many votes as possible. They have been told that any one phone number can vote up to 10 times and the calls cost 10p each. Therefore Kidz R Us would be really grateful if you would take a few minutes and spend no more than £1 helping them try and secure the £78,000 .

They need the money to upgrade their theatre, a converted methodist chapel in St Ives which they bought in 2000. The money will enable them to install an orchestra pit, new stage, wardrobe store and wheelchair accessible toilet facilities plus level the auditorium floor and carry out major and vital repairs to the roof.

We will contact you again as soon as Kidz R Us have the phone number and would be really grateful if you could take a little time to vote for them (10 times would be fantastic, but even once will increase their chances of winning).

Kidz R Us are contacting people in various ways, some by letter, some by e mail. It would really help them to be able to remind you by email on the day of the public vote. They would be grateful if you would email them now on info@kidzrus.net with ‘Peoples Millions’ in the subject header, then they can get back to you with the telephone number on the day. If you would like to receive updates on all other news from Kidz then please also email info@kidzrus.net  with "mailing list" in the subject header.

Kidz R US thanks you in advance for your support and for helping them develop their theatre for future generations of Kidz!

STUD - New Musical available to amateurs and schools

The distant planet of Syrenius is populated only by women who reproduce through parthenogenesis, but their birth-rate is falling and something has to be done about it.  Their search brings them to earth where they find someone unfortunately inappropriate for this special task, and the fun begins ...

STUD was written with amateur groups and schools in mind.  It uses two choruses (the gospel-singing "daughters of Syrenius" and the rock-and-rolling earthlings) and a selection of well-defined characters to tell its frothy comic story.  It gives opportunities for a wide range of talents from the non-singing, non-dancing to the vocally versatile.

Further details of roles, vocal ranges, terms and conditions and a full synopsis are available on www.surreydancemusic.co.uk.

A perusal pack, comprising script, vocal score, piano/conductor's score, terms & conditions and an application form, is available from Surrey Dance Music, PO Box 574, Guildford, GU5 9XY.
