NODA Youth Academy ‘Reach for the Stars!’
The NODA Youth Academy is only 6 weeks away and places are still available. If you don’t want to miss out on this exciting opportunity book your place today!
The Academy will be taking place at the University of Leicester, John Foster Hall on 14 – 18 April 2009. NODA’s first residential Youth Academy will offer two different study options for the young amateur theatre practitioner; the Musical Theatre Academy and the Drama Academy. Both the Musical Theatre Academy and the Drama Academy will offer two series of workshops, a junior group for 12 – 14 year olds and a senior group for 15 – 17 year olds.
If you want to spend more time practising your favourite hobby, learning what your strengths are as a performer or meeting new people with similar interests then book your place today!

NODA Summer School 2009
Have you booked your place onto the NODA Summer School 2009? NODA Summer School held at Loughborough University between 1 – 8 August is always a popular way to spend the summer.
If you’re passionate about theatre why not take up this wonderful opportunity to learn more about your preferred theatre craft or perhaps try something new? Come along and join many others from across the UK and overseas in their passion for theatre!
Courses are once again filling up fast. Some of the courses with places still available are Directing Youth Theatre, Musical Directors, Choreography, Stage Make-Up and Stage Sound.
Have you ever wanted to be a Director? Well now’s your chance with a great course on offer teaching everything from the audition process to running the band on opening night.
Do you want to create the ideal youth theatre experience? Why not attend Directing Youth Theatre, featuring great ways to enhance your work with young people in theatre.
Perhaps you are a dancer but keen to develop your skills as a choreographer? NODA have a great course exploring various styles of dance and ways for you to learn chorus and ensemble numbers.
After a couple of years break Stage Make-Up is back! This course provides a broad insight into theatre make-up. A great course to show you many handy techniques and special effects created with make-up. Beards, wigs and moustaches will also be featured.

NODA National Weekend
NODA looks forward to welcoming you to the 2009 National Weekend, this year to be held in the vibrant, central England city of Leicester.
The 2009 National Weekend will offer the regular series of business meetings, evening entertainment and activities. This year you will have the opportunity to join a coach trip to Rutland Water and Melton Mowbray.
The National Weekend is your opportunity to meet with other members who share your passion and enthusiasm for amateur theatre.

Opera Theatre Europe produced an opera by an American composer in March 2007 at the Linbury Theatre of the Royal Opera House, since when the set has been in storage.

Free Coaching Service to NODA Members

Noise Ensemble

Long Service Medals Enquiry
Surrey Police are the National lead into a series of burglaries that are occurring throughout England, the name of this operation is Operation Lamb. As a result of the enquiry a quantity of antiques, jewellery and other items have been recovered and the police are now in possession of two NODA long service medals.
Both medals are on light blue ribbons and both have three silver bars across the ribbon. This indicates that the recipient has had forty years service with NODA.

50 Year Award
And finally loyal NODA member, Pat Simpson has been awarded her 50th gold bar award. Pat has been involved in all aspects of the society such as singing, dancing, and most of all costume and backstage work since 1958. Her society Retford & District Amateur Operatic said of her “She is a lovely lady and respected by all of us”.  Thank you for reading this NODA newsletter.
