Sheet Music
Service
Whilst NODA is still able to offer its members a very large selection of sheet music and vocal selections from stock, we regret that due to rising costs and immense online competition, we are unable to source music from other companies.
At the last count NODA held in stock some 1,400 titles, which included both single sheets and albums, some of it out-of-print. Please make us your first port of call, if we're unable to supply from stock we can give you alternative companies to try.
Please note that the sheet music listed in our store is not guaranteed to be in stock.
For further information or to order sheet music through NODA contact Kirsty Lenaghan on 01733 865790 or visit the online store.

Most pantomime authors make musical suggestions in their works,
but these do not necessarily have to be followed. John Morley
carried out audience research into the sort of music people
expect in a pantomime and the results showed a preference
for standards such as Me and My Shadow,
Wonderful Day like Today and Sisters.
It is also more likely that standards are going to be available.
The trend with pop music is for there to be one printing,
after which the piece is either out of print or available
only in an album. There are exceptions, of course, in the
case of something which becomes a classic: The Beatles' A
Hard Day's Night is still in print!
Copyright
Requests frequently come in for permission to photocopy music.
The Music Publishers' Association Code
of Fair Practice, agreed between composers, publishers
and users of printed music, says "Copyright owners (composers
and their publishers) recognise the need of musicians and
students for reasonable access to copyright material so that
their music may be widely performed and studied. At the same
time, composers and their publishers must be properly compensated
for their work, so that the economic incentive and means for
the creation and publication of music continue to exist. It
follows that copying, whether by photocopying or by any other
means, in order to evade hire or purchase, will always be
wrong."
Copying is permitted under certain conditions. These are laid
out in the Code of Fair Practice
which may be obtained from the Music Publishers' Association,
18/20 York Buildings, London WC2N 6JU (telephone 020 7839
7779, fax 020 7839 7776).
Copyright: it should be remembered
that when a piece of sheet music is obtained from NODA, the
fee paid is for copyright only, not for permission to perform.
Permission to perform comes under the jurisdiction of the
Performing Rights Society (PRS) which exists to administer
certain of the rights granted under the Copyright Designs
and Patents Act. The Society's main objective is the collection
of royalties for the public performance, broadcasting and
diffusion of its members' copyright works. The normal practice
of the PRS is to issue a blanket annual licence to a music
user, in return for payment of royalty charges. This authorises
the licence holder to perform in public any of the millions
of copyright musical works under PRS control. The royalties
are distributed to PRS members and its affiliated societies
world wide and go to the composers, lyricists and music publishers
whose works have been performed.
However, there are some types of musical work and performances
which are not controlled by PRS. Societies are strongly urged
to consult the PRS before committing themselves to performing
any pieces. Queries can be answered by The Theatre Section,
Performing Rights Society, 29-33 Berners Street, London W1P
3AB (telephone 020 7580 5544). While NODA
can supply music, it is up to individual societies to obtain
permission to perform it.
